If you are someone with a song in your heart, let me show you how to get it out of your head onto paper or CD, and make it shine. I offer both individual and group songwriting lessons, workshops and song critiques for all levels. Whether you are interested in writing songs for fun, or you are a serious singer-songwriter or want to write for your band, I’m here to help. I have over 15 years of songwriting experience, writing in Boston and Nashville. I spent three years working full time as a songwriter on Nashville’s Music Row. I have had songs recorded by a number of artists on independent labels, as well as numerous major label holds. My songs have won awards, and have charted on the Americana and Music Row radio charts. My goal as a songwriting coach is to help you say what you really want to say with your song, while also covering the technical aspects of songwriting. As you write, we will focus on both lyrics and melody/harmony, song structure and form, rhyming and rhyme schemes and prosody (marriage of words and music). We will spend a good deal of time talking about the content of your songs. Great songs are created by digging deep - down to the single kernel of truth in your idea, followed by a great musical/lyrical execution on that idea. We will work together towards that end. We can also discuss the business of songwriting, demo production and avenues for getting your songs recorded and placed, depending upon your songwriting goals. Song Critiques - Song critiques can be done in person, via e-mail or virtually with Skype!. I will review your music and lyrics, and make suggestions as to how to make your song as good as it can be. I will also critique your rewrites of songs I originally reviewed at a discount to encourage you to do so - there’s an old saying that great songs are not written, they’re re-written!
